Healthy Cocktails for Summer!

Every woman loves a good cocktail to drink while relaxing outside in the sun. The problem is, cocktails are usually high in calories and sugar and that is a bad mix for someone like me who cant just have one strawberry daiquiri! In this post I am going to list some of my favourite healthy cocktails that you can make for summer without ruining your healthy eating.


Sugar-free Coconut Strawberry Daiquiri
A daiquiri is my favourite cocktail, and I only discovered this after having dinner at Red Lobster while on our honeymoon in Hawaii. After learning about all the sugar that it contains, I decided to find a healthy recipe alternative that I could make at home. You can also make this without the rum for your children on a hot summer’s day.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sliced strawberries
  • 1 Tablespoon lime juice
  • 3 tbsp of coconut flavoured rum like malibu
  • Sweetener to taste – I recommend stevia or truvia
  • Small handful of ice – if you are using frozen strawberries then you can leave out the ice

Put everything into a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!

Margarita
This another popular refreshing cocktail choice for summer!

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp tequila
  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp cointreau
  • Sweetener to taste – I recommend stevia or truvia
  • Handful of ice
  • Kosher salt (optional)
  • Extra lime

Wipe lime around the edges of the glass then dip the rim into the salt. Put the ice into a shaker, add the other ingredients, shake and pour into glass. Serve with a wedge of lime.

Cosmopolitan
Try this refreshing low sugar low calorie cocktail!

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons Citron or regular vodka
  • 2 teaspoons unsweetened cranberry juice and 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 to 3 drops orange extract
  • Natural sweetener to taste (if you have a liquid sweetener, then use this)
  • Handful of ice

Mix ingredients in a cocktail shaker. You may need to add more cranberry juice or sweetener. Serve and enjoy!
