Healthy Homemade Chocolate


I cannot wait to share with you this healthy homemade chocolate recipe. For those of you out there that have a sweet tooth and are looking for a chocolate alternative then you need to try this! The recipe has three main ingredients – coconut oil, cocoa powder & protein powder, its that simple! I am going to give you two different recipes, one for whey protein and one for casein. If you are using casein protein powder (as I did for this recipe) you will need to increase the amount of coconut oil since the casein thickens on mixing. If you don’t have protein powder on hand, replace with more cocoa.

Whey Chocolate Ingredients
1 tbsp coconut oil (melted to liquid)
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 scoop whey protein powder (flavour of your choice)
2 tsp chopped nuts (optional)
A few drops of stevia (optional)

Casein Chocolate Ingredients
2 tbsp coconut oil (melted to liquid)
1 tbsp cocoa powder
2-3 tsp casein protein
2 tsp chopped nuts (optional)
A few drops of stevia (optional)

Method
1. Mix the wet ingredients together in a small container.
2. Add the dry ingredients and mix well. If the mixture is too dry, add more coconut oil.
3. Place the container in the freezer for at least 30 minutes.
4. Once the chocolate has set, cut it into pieces. Store chocolate in the fridge. Enjoy!

 

Casein chocolate: roughly 300 calories
Whey chocolate: roughly 250 calories
