This addictive, high energy workout program is great for those of you who want to lose body fat while having fun in the comfort of your own home. If you are someone who loves dancing and/or kickboxing, then Turbo Fire is a MUST!

Turbo Fire by Beachbody is by far one of my favourite workout programs of all time, I just knew I had to do a review on it! You may be wondering, what exactly is Turbo Fire? Turbo Fire is a 12-20 week intense cardio conditioning program from fitness motivator Chalene Johnson. It is a mixture of kickboxing and dancing with awesome music and fun high intensity drills and thrown in for good measure. It is like a party in your living room. Turbo Fire is the only workout program that I have stuck to for over 3 years and I enjoy it. You’re dancin’ and shakin’ it and kicking and punching the air like its no ones business (and I apologise now if my neighbors ever have to witness this), but you having such a good time that you don’t feel like you are exercising, and that is what makes this program so successful. If you enjoy it then you will stick with it.

Turbo Fire has a modifier in every workout. The modifier shows you the low impact version of each move for those of you who are unable to perform high intensity exercise such as jumping. Turbo fire is also recommended for every fitness level, I however, think that it is best suited for intermediate to advanced exercisers due to the intensity of the workouts. If you are a beginner, I highly recommend checking out Turbo Jam, which is like Turbo Fire for beginners.

The Fire Drills are what make this program an excellent fat burner. The Fire Drills are bouts of  High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) that push you to your max for up to 1-minute, with quick recovery periods. Studies show that HIIT ignites your metabolism, enabling your body to burn more calories for up to 48 hours after your workout. The workouts are also set up so you feel like you are part of a fitness class. Chalene’s cuing and motivational cues are excellent. She always has high energy and motivates you when you need it most.

The program features 12 workouts on 11 DVD’s each between 15-55 minutes, a fitness guide, lower body band, sculpting resistance band, nutrition guide and inferno plan which shows you how you can lose up to 5 kilograms in just 5 days. The workouts include 3 HIIT classes, 2 ‘fire’ classes, 2 ‘EZ’ classes, 2 sculpt classes, a core class and 2 stretch classes. The ‘fire’ classes feature 1-3 HIIT drills incorporated into the workout and the ‘EZ’ classes are steady state cardio workouts with no HIIT drills.

Breakdown of the Turbo Fire DVD’s

Get Fired Up: Chalene guides you through the programme to help you get the best results.
Fire 30 Class: Throw smoking-hot hooks and make big leaps to the bass of “Give Up the Funk.” This workout is great for when you are pushed for time. It is short, but intense.
Fire 45 Class: Kick, dance, and punch your way into shape to the beat of “Wiggle It.” This is a fun DVD with great music.
Fire 45 EZ Class: Take a break from the Fire Drills, but not the fire, as you sweat to “In The Ayer.” An easier steady state cardio class.
Fire 55 EZ Class: Don’t let EZ fool you—you’ll be sweating to “Dazzey Dukes.” This is my favorite workout of all – fun, fast-paced and dancey.
HIIT 15 Class: Dial it up for your first High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class. The hardest HIIT class in the program in my opinion.
HIIT 20 Class: “Turn This Mutha Out” with 7 sizzling Fire Drills in 20 minutes.
HIIT 25 Class: Here’s 25 minutes of your most intense Fire Drills yet with Chalene.
Core 20 Class: Target and strengthen your entire core to reveal tight, flat abs.
Sculpt 30/Tone 30 Class: Develop shapely muscles with Chalene’s challenging resistance classes.
Stretch 40 Class/Stretch 10 Class: Increase your flexibility and lengthen your muscles for a long, lean look.
