Turbo Jam was the first workout program I tried when I started on my weight loss journey back in 2008. I had been using my treadmill for exercise for a few months but was beginning to get tired of doing the same thing each day and wanted something else to challenge me. I was skeptical about purchasing it at first, but after reading all the positive reviews, I decided to give it a shot and boy am I glad I did.

As with most workout programs, there is a modifier in each workout who shows you the low impact version of each exercise, this is great if you suffer from knee or joint problems.

When I first started Turbo Jam I was overweight and as unfit as they come, I couldn’t make it through one Turbo Jam workout without taking numerous breaks. Here I was bent over with chest pains gasping for air, and there was Chalene, jumping around like a mad woman throwing kicks and punches in every which direction like it was a walk in the park. I was determined to stick with it, and I did. After the first workout I was hooked. Turbo Jam made working out fun. I looked forward to each and every workout. I even had Turbo Jam nights at home where I would do a bunch of Turbo Jam workouts back to back because I loved it that much.
Just like Turbo Fire, Turbo Jam is a mix of kickboxing and dancing to great upbeat music. Turbo Jam claims that you can burn up to 1000 calories per hour, but this will be totally dependent on your current weight and height. I would burn on average 400-500 calories doing 45 minutes of Turbo Jam depending on how hard I was pushing. Ultimately, the heavier you are, the more calories you will burn. Chalene is great at motivating you and her cueing is good overall. If you have no dance and/or kickboxing background, you may find the moves difficult to master at first, but it will get easier, and remember that even mistakes burn calories.
I stuck with Turbo Jam for 2 years solid (and still do it today) and it was how I lost the majority of my weight (33lbs/15kg) before my wedding (in combination with ChaLEAN Extreme). I recommend Turbo Jam to those who are just starting out, love dancing/zumba/kickboxing type workouts and if you are someone who is having trouble sticking to a workout program and staying motivated. If you aren’t new to exercise and are relatively fit then I highly recommend Turbo Fire for more of a challenge.

If you are looking for more of a challenge, I highly recommend Fat Blaster (HIIT workout), Cardio Party Mix 3 (50 min cardio dance party), and Total Body Blast (60 minute stability ball workout that works every muscle in your body).
